Company: Inwelligent, Inc
Job Title: President
Industry: Corporate Wellness/Health Promotion
Years in Field: New Business
Organization Size: 2
Professional Development
I graduated in 1974 as a Diploma Nurse. I continued my education in business administration and graduated cum laude in 1984 with a B.S. degree. In 2004, I became licensed in life and health insurance and in 2014 achieved Welcoa Certification and Life and Health Coach Certification through Real Balance. I entered this field as an extension of my health care experience and desire to help people achieve what they desire. Each and every educational experience has brought me to this point. I have completed the circle and feel with the greatest degree of certainty that I am on the path I am supposed to be on.
Demonstrated Success
As a newcomer my business success is yet to be measured. Thanks to the Welcoa training, I have tools to be able to measure my progress. As a health coach, I successfully coached an individual through a preoperative period, when there was high risk for pneumonia, high pain drug usage, and risk for blood clots. Her lifestyle disease was addressed in line with her MD instructions. She successfully had knee surgery without pre and post op complications.
What worked best for this individual was behavior change through lifestyle assessment, setting small achievable goals , actions steps of her choice and verbal commitment with support to accomplish her goals.
It became clear that the 7 Benchmarks are applicable to the individual as the CEO of her own lifestyle. I captured support through an explanation of coaching and a signed agreement, we created a cohesive team for goal reaching. Data was collected through an assessment of the individual and personal environment and an operating plan was developed by the client that included interventions she was capable of doing and able to commit to. Support was established through family, friends and health coach. Since surgery, this individual has had a recovery without complications of pneumonia, pain med addiction and no blood clots.
Leadership
I have adopted Dr. Ann’s Eat healthy for Life food plan, I exercise 3 x per week doing muscle strengthening and lengthening, and walk a track during meal breaks when practicing nursing. Inwelligent, inc. was conceived and Launched this year.
WELCOA, Real Balance, Medikeeper and my experiences in health care and insurance have brought me to wellness and made it possible to plan and do what I am doing.
I would advise anyone interested in health promotion to visit and become involved with Welcoa, design how they want to be involved, and move forward with a strong passion for continuing education.
Innovation
As a newcomer, I have not been able to yet demonstrate contributions. My plan does involve a model to consult with business to start wellness programs, move to measured results, conduct Health Risk Assessments, and provide coaching. We are also positioned to be ongoing health leaders in businesses who do not have a full time position to manage health promotion. Our program has added a doctor of pharmacy to help educate employees on drug utilization. Our nurses can educate pertinent to each organizations populations needs.
Compelling Vision
Our vision is to bring health promotion to where it is needed, workers and families. When I hear that insurance companies believe they are best suited to manage health I get concerned. I believe regulation and certification will change the industry and, with everyone trying to tell others what to do, I believe health promotion for behavior change will have the greatest impact.
I plan to move Inwelligent, Inc. forward in East Tennessee and hope to be on the community wellness council. I will recruit as many as I can to this business as a continuum of health care in the community.
Thank you for your inspiration and detailed resources!
