Kailin’s education includes studies in psychology, biology, nutrition (undergraduate) and clinical nutrition, education, health care administration/management (graduate). She has numerous certifications (Wellness Coach, Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor, Worksite Wellness Program) and awards, Frost & Sullivan award for creating industry-leading wellness products; NCQA accreditation for her innovative health and wellness products). Kailin became passionate about wellness at a young age through sports, workouts and learning the importance of a healthy lifestyle--combating family illnesses - heart disease and cancer. She finds the diversity of her educational and work experiences leverage knowledge from various areas to help drive unique programs and client strategies.
Over the past 15 years, Kailin has made significant contributions to driving health and wellness improvement in small and large companies alike. Her innovative products and services have been available to more than 5 million individuals nationwide, impacting thousands of lives. For example, during her consulting work, Kailin implemented comprehensive and culturally-sensitive programs averaging over 85% engagement rates and yielding exceptional results. These programs were unique, as they blended creating a culture of health and wellness, with community events and resources such as integrating grocery store visits, bringing local gyms or classes onsite at employer sites, bringing in local Registered Dieticians or chefs to hold cooking demonstrations and focusing on integrating charity events or 5K walks as core components of the wellness strategy.
One specific example of a large contribution Kailin made was designing a leading-edge approach to health coaching designed to drive meaningful change, while aligning with the organization’s culture and delivering personalized support to members. This unique program also required an onsite health coaching presence. Understanding that some members prefer live interventions while others prefer technology, the onsite health program offered the option for face-to-face meetings / interventions subsequently and/or alternatively supported with technology and/or telephonic support. By designing a customized, multi-modal approach for each client, ranging from an onsite RN health coaches who were embedded with on-site health clinics to having full-time onsite wellness consultants, these programs have yielded an increase of 30% in engagement and up to 40% improvement in outcomes. The staff was also trained to not only blend with overall organizational culture, but to factor in local trends and preferences.
On a regular basis, Kailin is a big supporter of WELCOA’s 7 Benchmarks and includes them as part of her consulting with clients and product development/deployment. For example, for the onsite program listed above, the onsite coach would partner with the wellness champions to lead “Train the Trainer” sessions on current programs and products available. Additionally, it is our experience that not only does each organization have a unique culture, but often each worksite can have its own unique culture! Because of this, especially for large organizations, the onsite health coach would act as a wellness consultant to help provide culturally-sensitive programs and support at the site level, ensuring a supportive environment and driving a culture of health all which has contributed to the large increase in engagement and outcomes yielded. At Accountable Health, Kailin mentors and trains staff to ensure the Account Management staff incorporates these benchmarks into strategic wellness planning sessions and the Product Development and Marketing teams are challenged to produce tools, content and collateral to help clients and Wellness Champions with turnkey solutions that help support these key benchmarks.
Kailin is held in high regard by her esteemed colleagues, peers and mentees for her passion, dedication and expertise. Her mentees have gone on to have successful careers as wellness consultants and product leaders. Kailin walks the talk by practicing moderation, balance and gratitude. When she is not working, you will find Kailin with her husband and beloved dog enjoying the great outdoors, whether they are boating, swimming or paddleboarding in the summer or snow-shoeing, skiing or snowboarding in the winter, they love to be active outdoors and enjoy time away from technology to unwind and recharge. She is driven by a passion for continued learning and development, helping others personally and professionally and contributing to provide market-leading health and wellness solutions that improve quality of life and health outcomes.

During this pivotal time with a shifting healthcare landscape and increased focus on public health and awareness, the opportunity for health promotion, prevention, wellness and integrated health solutions will continue to grow as will the “consumer” reception of health initiatives. Health promotion in the workplace should not be a siloed event. To truly drive change we need to continue to focus on the workplace, community and social integration and leveraging all resources to drive a continued cultural shift. To continue to advance as an industry, our focus is on personalizing health and wellness solutions, leveraging technology, cognitive and behavior change science and designing programs and solutions that are relevant, meaningful and convenient for employees and their families to drive overall population health improvement.
